So this past weekend we were briefly reunited upt' North in Leeds (where Sarah has been living and studying for the past three years). It was Sarah's final show, yep final show; that means no more university and soon no more sister separation! Our lovely parents also drove the looong nine hours up from Cornwall to view the show and spend the weekend with us. In true Halpin tradition we managed to squeeze in as many brunches, dinners out and gin & tonics as we could.
Sarah has been working (very hard indeed) towards her final collection, where she studies Surface Pattern and Print Design at Leeds College of Art. Last Friday we attended the opening night of her degree show, and got to see her graduate collection, titled ' No Mans Land' - Her collection makes use of natural textiles, and also encompasses paper-prints. Driven by hand generated imagery and traditional processes, every piece in Sarah's collection is (lovingly) printed by hand.
There was A LOT of lovely work on show throughout the exhibition; we have included a brief glimpse at some of the other very talented students (all from Surface Pattern). Sarah and many of her 'classmates' will be in London in a couple of weeks [June 29th - July 02nd] showcasing their work again at the 'New Designers' show, so go along and check it out.
