Simplicity is key, right? And no one understands this better than Splendid LA

Throughout the year, we will be continuing our ongoing love affair with basic tees and Splendid, creating and shooting a series of blogposts around their seasonal pieces. Unfortunately, due to our forever clashing schedules (Joanna is currently in New York, whilst Sarah's in London) Joanna flew solo, teaming up with New York based babe Daniela Spector to shoot this latest post.

As you might have noticed, we are pretty fond of an oversized tee and Splendid have come out  on top with this latest collection. Their thick cotton white/and grey tee that Joanna has styled demonstrate the perfect fit for relaxed look. (that we always do; hence we we frequently buy men's instead of women's). It looks great just styled with any bottom but Joanna has opted for vintage denim.

The shirt that is also featured is another great, simple piece as it is so versatile. It can be styled opened over the top of a tee or tank and worn almost as a jacket (especially in LA where the weather is always warm and sunny). Or as Joanna has worn it in the post; button up with nothing underneath.

Other styles featured are; the short sleeve sweater and the jersey scoop tee

Some of you may/may not have already noticed, over the past few months What She Said has been working closely with the lovely team at Splendid.  We're super excited to share our first blog post, featuring one of our favourite pieces from their Spring collection. After a few months of not having the time to style and shoot new content, it was great to get back into a creative environment and work with Ana Suñtay-Tanedo in the studio.

Our collaboration stems from a shared love of understated basics, and a love of striped tee's. Two things Splendid do very, very well. Because of how much we rely on stripes and classics in our everyday style, we appreciate pieces from Splendid like this 'vintage whisper tee', 'slub 1x1 long sleeve tee', and 'french stripe long sleeve top'.

One of our favourite pieces the brand is launching this Spring, is their Slip Dress. Again, you may or may not have noticed, but you'll usually find us in some sort of jean/trouser/tee combination. So this classic and simple dress is about as fancy as we're willing to go. It's a versatile basic, comes in selection of colour ways and is great for dressing up or down. Joanna has styled her dress over a thin black sweater and a pair of leather mules. Sarah chose to style hers with a linen shirt and simple black slides.

We are lucky enough to know a couple of Australian locals... Very handy when in search/need of coffee shops and secluded beaches. And to top it off, this particular local is not half bad behind a camera lens.

During our first week together in Sydney, we caught up with Andrew James and road-tripped down to one of his favourite beaches. The car journey there may have only taken an hour or so, but in true Halpin style, we had to make a couple of pit-stops (toilet breaks) at the local children's cricket club.

True to his word, Andy's beach was beautiful and almost completely empty. We got to practise both our rock-climbing/sun-lounging skills, and only lost one memory card along the way.

This was in-fact our second shoot with Andy. And after a (not so) hard day's work, we got to catch up over lunch with the added company of his wife Leah, and new daughter Aubrey. Congratulations you guys, she's lovely.
